  6. Let the mate tea steep for 3-5 minutes, then gently stir the tea leaves to release more flavor.
  7. Add any optional additions, such as sweetener or milk, to taste.
  8. Sip the mate tea through the metal straw, being careful not to disturb the tea leaves.
